RESPONSIBILITY

"A flight of a bird in the sky, an instant

After he passed, there is no trace."

Ailton Krenak

Unlike birds, which do not leave traces along their paths, we humans leave footprints wherever we go, regardless of place and activity. That's why, more than sustainable tourism, we believe in practices aimed at mitigating human action and regenerating places and environments, acting with respect and in tune with destinations and the people who live in them. Here we list some measures adopted inside and outside our travel routines, in line with our purpose.

1. A low-impact policy focused on damage reduction.
2. Small groups, designed to minimize impact on natural attractions.
3. Appreciation of local culture and cuisine.
4. Itineraries that prioritize the exchange of experiences with local communities, contributing to their empowerment in tourism and economic development.
5. Tours and experiences led by native professionals.
6. Participation in councils, associations, and local initiatives. We are currently members of the Tourism and Environment Council (COMTURMA) of São Félix do Jalapão and the Council of the Serra do Lajeado Environmental Protection Area (APA), in Palmas. We were also invited to join the board of the Brazilian Association of Ecotourism and Adventure Tourism Companies (ABETA) for the 2025–2026 term, the leading technical organization in this sector in Brazil.
7. In 2024, we received the Brasil Natural Award from ABETA for our contribution to the ecotourism sector. In 2025, we received the Inova Cerrado Award from SEBRAE for our accessibility project.
8. A team focused on the unique characteristics of each destination, especially the contexts of fauna, flora, culture, history, and local communities.
9. Itineraries that diversify attractions and activity locations, reducing pressure and environmental impact on specific sites.
10. Creation of Revista Cores, dedicated to best practices for visiting destinations responsibly.
11. Creation of the “Praia Rica Explains” series on Instagram, addressing themes and best practices related to the destinations.
12. We avoid and educate travelers about the impacts of night visits to spring pools (fervedouros) and other practices that, although permitted, are harmful in the long term.
13. Replanting of native species in degraded areas.
14. Participation in collective clean-up initiatives in green areas and rivers.
15. Organization and collaboration in community-focused events, such as the First Fartura do Quilombo Baking Workshop in the Quilombola Community of Prata, as well as recreational events for children.
16. Collection and donation of educational books to the rural library of São Félix do Tocantins.
17. Partnerships with suppliers aligned with Praia Rica’s values, committed to respecting the well-being and health of local communities.
18. As signatories of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism (together with the UN and One Planet), we commit to reducing carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 and reaching net zero by 2050 through a Climate Action Plan currently under development. Progress will be published annually. Emissions are currently being inventoried for future offsetting.
19. Sponsorship of events that promote environmental improvement and sports, such as the Cerrado Enduro Cup.
20. Adherence to the Brazilian Code of Conduct, a commitment to preventing the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in tourism.
21. Tours developed in partnership with Instituto Araguaia, a global reference in research and conservation of giant otters in the Middle Araguaia region.
22. In 2025, Expedição Meu Jalapão was selected by Embratur and SEBRAE as one of the 100 most qualified tourism experiences in Brazil for international travelers. The evaluation pillars were authenticity, quality, and sustainability. The experience became an official tourism experience of Brazil.
